Scholarly Library operates the bookstore at scholarlylibrary.net. This page explains what information the store collects when you browse, create an account, or place an order, and who receives it.
Account
If you create an account, we store your email address and a scrambled form of your password. We do not store the password itself. If you sign in with Google, we receive the email address Google confirms for that sign-in and use it as your account email.
When you are signed in, your cart and wishlist are saved to your account so they are still there on another visit. A signed-in session is kept in a cookie named sl_customer. That cookie lasts 12 hours, or 30 days if you choose “Remember me.”
Orders and shipping
To ship a book we collect the name, email, street address, city, state, and ZIP code you enter at checkout, along with the books in the order, the shipping option you choose, the total, and the payment status. After the order is paid, the carrier tracking number and tracking link are stored with the order and shown on your confirmation page and in your account.
Shipping prices are requested from Shippo for the address you enter. When an order is paid, Shippo creates the shipping label and gives us the tracking details. Shippo receives the delivery address and the parcel details needed to buy that label.
Payment
Card payments are handled by Stripe on Stripe’s own checkout page. Your card number is entered there and is not stored on this website. We keep the order total, Stripe’s payment status, and a reference to the checkout session so we can mark the order paid and show it in your account.
We email you an order confirmation, including tracking when the label is ready, at the address you enter at checkout. If you ask to reset your password, we email a one-time link to the address on the account. That link expires after one hour. These messages are sent from scholarlylibraryco@gmail.com.
What stays in your browser
- Your cart and wishlist are saved in this browser even before you sign in.
- Your language choice, English or Arabic, is saved in this browser.
- A copy of the book catalog may be saved in this browser so pages can load the titles you are browsing.
These items stay on your device until you clear this site’s data in your browser. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not sell personal information.
Who else receives information
- Stripe, to take the card payment.
- Shippo and the carrier you select, to price shipping and deliver the package.
- Google, if you choose Google sign-in.
- Our email account, to send order and password-reset messages.
Order records are kept so we can fulfill the order, show it in your account, and answer questions about it.
Your choices
You can browse the catalog without an account. You can sign out of an account at any time. To ask what we have stored for your email address, to correct it, or to ask us to delete the account, email scholarlylibraryco@gmail.com. We may keep a record of a completed order when we still need it for shipping, payment, or our own accounting.
